Coles County Same-Day Release Status
No separately labeled official Coles County list identifies everyone released today or during a rolling 24-hour span. The Sheriff's Office page instead links Odyssey Jail Public Access, a Currently Confined report, and a Recently Confined report. The wording matters. “Currently Confined” supports present jail custody as of the report time. “Recently Confined” describes recent admissions. Neither title means recently released.
A name that drops from the current report may reflect release to the community. It may also mean transfer to IDOC, another county, federal custody, immigration custody, a hospital, or another institution. A sound same-day check looks for an affirmative discharge time, transfer entry, court event, or agency status. The jail status line at (217) 348-7332 is available around the clock for inmate-status and bond questions. Staff may limit details given by phone, but that call is often the fastest way to resolve a fresh change.
Check Coles County 24-Hour Releases
Start with the person-level county source, then move from quick confirmation to durable proof. Use a booking number, sheriff-office number, case number, date of birth, and custody dates when available. A name alone can join the wrong records, especially when two people share common names.
- Search Coles County Odyssey Jail Public Access for the person and inspect any booking detail the live portal returns.
- Check the sheriff's Currently Confined report. A match supports current confinement. A missing match does not state what happened next.
- Use Recently Confined only to identify a recent booking, agency, charge, case, or bond entry. It is an intake report.
- Call the Coles County Jail at (217) 348-7332. Ask whether the identified booking ended, when it ended, and whether the result was release or transfer.
- Review the Coles County Judici case search for a release order, bond action, dismissal, sentence, mittimus, warrant, or probation entry.
- If no public channel gives a firm answer, request the jail movement and discharge record under Illinois FOIA.
The court record may explain why custody could end, but it does not always show when jail processing finished. A separate hold can remain after a judge acts in one case. Coles County Release Record Fields
Because there is no official same-day feed, do not claim that a public page displays a complete release field set. The current report supplies booking and confinement facts. A focused sheriff request can seek the departure facts needed to identify what occurred during the last 24 hours.

Illinois FOIA Section 2.15 expressly includes the time and date a person was received into, discharged from, or transferred from agency custody within chronologically maintained arrest information, subject to other lawful limits. It also covers an arrest photograph when available. Protected medical, juvenile, victim, source, and security material should not be requested as part of a routine release check.
Coles County Confined Reports Differ
Coles County uses two clear labels: Currently Confined and Recently Confined. The first is a custody snapshot. The second is an admission lead. Its observed fields can include name, sex, race, birth data, age, confined date and time, booking number, sheriff-office number, case number, booking basis, arrest agency, charge, statute, offense date, and bond status. None of those fields, by itself, proves the later departure.

The screenshot helps identify official starting points, but its “Recently Confined” link must still be read as bookings rather than releases.
No sheriff page states an exact public retention span or a fixed hourly or daily schedule for the PDFs. Check each report's generation details and describe only the span actually observed. An older event belongs in Odyssey, the court file, or a focused record request.
When Coles County Releases Inmates
The sheriff accepts an authorized bond payment at any time, every day of the year, and accepts surrender at any time. That access does not create a promised release hour. The bond and surrender instructions do not publish an exact processing time or a public exit. Staff must still confirm the court authority, payment, identification, other holds, and the jail's release steps.
Someone surrendering may bring identification and cash. Other property enters property control and is returned upon release. That detail can matter during a same-day pickup plan, but it says nothing about the precise moment the person will leave. A court order can also precede physical release. Ask the jail whether processing is complete before treating the order as a finished discharge.
Release from the county jail and transfer from it are different events. A mittimus, which is the court's commitment order, can send a sentenced person to IDOC. A detainer is another authority's request or legal basis to hold or receive someone. Either can keep the person in custody after the county booking closes.
Coles County Bond Release Costs
The sheriff publishes a $23 bail-bond processing fee when a money bond is legally authorized. Its examples show a $200 bond totaling $223, and a $500 failure-to-appear bond with a $75 failure-to-appear fee and the $23 processing fee totaling $598. Credit-card charges are extra, and the card user needs matching photo identification.
These examples are not a promise that money can secure release in every case. A current judge's order and Illinois pretrial law control whether monetary bond is authorized. Exact cash or card payment may be accepted through the sheriff's stated process, but another hold or case can block community release. Confirm the amount and all active holds through the jail before paying.
A receipt supports the payment event. It does not replace the discharge timestamp. When the time of release matters, obtain the jail movement record or a direct status confirmation tied to the same booking number.
Coles County Sheriff App Updates
The official Coles County Sheriff app adds a mobile access channel. Its information page says the inmate search updates hourly. Neither the official description nor the store listing verified a distinct recent-release module, so an hourly inmate-search statement must not be turned into an hourly release list.
The official Android app listing shows the county's published mobile product. 
The app can be checked for its current live menu, but any release or photo feature should be described only if it actually appears in the installed version.
Mobile information may lag the jail's internal record. Save the source name and check time when noting a result. If the app and a phone answer conflict, ask the custodian to confirm the booking's disposition.
Coles County Release Fallbacks
A narrow FOIA request is the strongest county fallback. Ask for the named booking, a short date range, admission and departure times, release or transfer disposition, receiving agency if public, case number, and electronic delivery. Ask for redaction rather than full denial when exempt and public material are mixed.

IDOC applies only after a state commitment. Its Individual in Custody Search can show an actual parole date and current parole or mandatory supervised release status. A person who only left the Coles County Jail will not gain an IDOC release record from that event. Federal BOP and ICE sources likewise cover their own custody systems, not a county-only booking.

Coles County Custody Outcomes
Read the final status in context. “Released from Coles County custody” should mean an affirmative county discharge. “Transferred” means another custodian received the person. Release to IDOC parole or mandatory supervised release means the person is outside secure state prison but remains under state legal custody. Full discharge means the state sentence and supervision have ended.

A “not found” result proves none of these outcomes. Check spelling, identifiers, reporting agency, court case, archive rules, and the chance of transfer before drawing a conclusion.
