A three-day review is still practical. Set an exact start and end time, list the people or bookings being checked, and seek an affirmative departure time for each. Do not infer community release from a name disappearing between two roster checks. The change may reflect transfer to IDOC, another county, federal or immigration custody, a hospital, or another institution.

The wider time range works best as a short audit. Keep notes on the source and time checked because custody can change again. Match with booking, case, sheriff-office, IDOC, BOP, or A-numbers where applicable.

- Compare the sheriff's current report with the Recently Confined report. Treat the latter only as an intake lead.
- Call the Coles County Jail at (217) 348-7332 and ask whether the identified booking ended within the chosen three-day window.
- Ask whether the outcome was community release or transfer, and request the receiving authority when that fact is public.
- Search Judici for Coles County and the Circuit Clerk record for court action tied to the booking.
- Submit a narrow Illinois FOIA request for any unresolved admission, discharge, or transfer entry.
A court order may authorize release, dismiss a charge, impose time served, set probation, or commit the person to IDOC. Yet jail processing and unrelated holds can change the physical outcome. The sheriff record remains the best source for the actual county departure time.

Section 2.15 of the Illinois Freedom of Information Act identifies receipt, discharge, and transfer times within chronologically maintained arrest information, subject to lawful restrictions. Ask for electronic copies and a short person-and-date scope. Request redaction of exempt portions rather than demanding protected medical, juvenile, victim, confidential-source, or security data.
Coles County Reports Are Admissions
The local labels settle a common source error. “Recently Confined Inmates” means recently admitted or booked. It does not mean recently released. “Currently Confined Inmates” supports confinement as of the report generation time. A person found on both may still be in jail; a person absent from the current report needs a separate departure check.

The sheriff does not publish an exact retention span or guaranteed refresh schedule for these PDFs. Describe only what a live report shows at the time checked.
Coles County Weekend Release Checks
A 72-hour span is helpful when no one checked the sources each day. It can bridge Friday-to-Monday activity or another three-day gap. It does not alter the evidence standard. Write down the range in local time and ask for the actual departure timestamp, since “over the weekend” can otherwise mean different periods to different offices.
Coles County's jail status telephone operates 24/7 for the stated status and bond questions. That makes it useful when a public office counter is closed. The sheriff's general counter hours are Monday through Friday, 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., but custody operations do not share those limited hours. Confirm holiday access before an in-person visit.
The sheriff accepts a legally authorized bond payment around the clock and accepts surrender at any time. It does not publish a promised processing duration or exit location. A payment or judge's order may fall within the three-day range while physical release occurs later, after identity, holds, and jail processing are resolved.

State the person's full name and other known identifiers, the three-day date range, and any booking or case number. Ask for date and time received, date and time discharged or transferred, release or transfer disposition, receiving agency if public, bond information if relevant, and electronic format. The county did not publish a sheriff-specific fee table in the reviewed sources, so request an estimate before paid duplication.
A written agency response is more durable than a phone note. A certified court order can prove what the judge ordered. Neither should be stretched beyond its scope. Pair them when both the legal basis and the physical departure time matter.
Coles County Custody Cross-Checks
Use the next custodian only when the facts point there. IDOC's Individual in Custody Search applies to state commitments, not a county-only release. Read an actual Parole Date with the current parole or mandatory supervised release status. A Projected Parole Date is prospective. Fully discharged people may disappear from the live IDOC search and require the archived Record Search route.

Read Coles County Outcomes Carefully
Release to the community, transfer, parole, and full discharge are not synonyms. A county discharge ends that jail stay. A transfer moves the person to another custodian. Parole or mandatory supervised release places a former state prisoner in the community while IDOC retains legal custody. Full discharge ends the state sentence and supervision obligation.
No result is not a release result. It may stem from spelling, incomplete identifiers, a portal limit, old data, sealing or expungement, full IDOC discharge, a nonparticipating VINE source, or a different custodian. Check the court disposition and ask the record keeper before recording an outcome.
